Gujarat is a major state situated in Western India. Lying on the northwestern shorelines, the state of Gujarat is dubbed as the Jewel of the West. The state houses a number of sites of the Indus Valley Civilization including Dholavira and Lothal. These sites have a history of more than 4,000 years. In terms of area, Gujarat is the 7th largest state of India. The capital of the state is Gandhinagar. The coordinates of Gujarat (Gandhinagar) are 23°13′ North latitude and 72°41′ East longitude. The state shares its boundaries with Maharashtra in the south, Rajasthan in the north, Madhya Pradesh in the east, and the Pakistani state of Sindh and the Arabian Sea to the west.
