How to Reach Uttarakhand

The Jolly Grant Airport situated in Dehradun is the principal airport in Uttarakhand. The airport enjoys sufficient connectivity with New Delhi. There is one more domestic airport in Pantnagar, Kumaon area. The government is thinking about starting helipad services in Jolly Grant and Pant Nagar Airport to key traveler draws such as Hemkund Sahib and Ghangharia.

By Rail:

Availability of railway services in Uttarakhand is quite limited because of its mountainous aspects. However, railways transport is one of the most affordable modes of transportation. The principal railhead in Uttarakhand lies at the Kumaun Division and its name is Kathgodam. The distance from Nainital is 35 km. It is the terminal station of the broad gauge track of North East Railways which joins Dehradun, Delhi, and Howrah with Nainital. Haldwani and Lalkuan are two other important railheads.

Dehradun forms a part of the Northern Railways network. Haridwar lies on the Dehradun-Howrah and Delhi–Dehradun railway routes. The Haridwar Junction is one of the principal railway stations under the Northern Railways network and it is linked with broad gauge and meter gauge tracks. Roorkee falls under the Northern Railway network of IR on the principal Punjab – Mughal Sarai trunk route and enjoys connectivity with important cities in India. Kotdwar, Hrishikesh, and Ramnagar are the other stations linked to Delhi by regular train services.

By Road:

State highways and national highways join Uttarakhand with different other parts of India. Uttarakhand Transport Corporation, the erstwhile State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC), has been restructured in the state and is a key component of the transportation infrastructure in UK. Around 1,000 buses are run by this corporation. In addition, there are other means of transportation such as cycle rickshaws and auto rickshaws if you want to travel the nearby places.
